I'm unable to get anything but a buzzing sound (which I always get)
when I either try to watch or record tv using mplayer/mencoder. I
know it is not a fundamental problem because I can watch tv just fine
using tvtime and xawtv.
I'm running freevo 1.5.3, mplayer 1.0-pre7try2, debian AMD64 etch
(testing), kernel 2.6.12, and a pcHDTV3000 tv-tuner card with a short
cable running between the TV card and the audio in.
I *think* I'm using OSS, not ALSA, since the mixer that seems to
work is aumix (and using alsamixergui gives error messages)
Before trying to encode, I set the audio input line (which controls
TV volume in tvtime) to R(ecord) instead of P(lay) using aumix. Here
is the command I'm using for encoding:
/usr/bin/mencoder tv:// -tv
driver=v4l:input=0:norm=ntsc:channel=44:chanlist=us-cable:width=320:height=240:outfmt=yuy2:
device=/dev/video0:adevice=/dev/dsp:audiorate=32000:forceaudio:forcechan=1:buffersize=64
-ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=1200:keyint=30 -oac mp3lame -lameopts
br=128:cbr:mode=3 -ffourcc divx -endpos 5 -o tmp.avi
Anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this audio problem?
Should I ask the mplayer mailing list?
Thanks,
Sunil
