I have a Nova-T and an Avermedia. The Avermedia is better.

There are differences in some tests, like supports AC3 or not. But
that is player specific, for linux all cards support everything. The
card only needs to provide the stream, the rest is software. The onlt
difference is budget cards and full featured cards. The later have tv
out.
