Hello All
I try to run freevo on my Linux only xbox with the framebuffer
device but I just get a black screen as soon as freevo starts. The
box is still alive because I can ssh into it.
It is a Version 1.1 xbox. Did anybody manage to run freevo with the
fb device?
media1:~# cat /boot/linuxboot.cfg
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.31-xbox
append root=/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part2 devfs=mount
kbd-reset xbox=hdd video=xbox:640x480,hoc=5,voc=10
xboxfb y
media1:~# cat /etc/freevo/freevo.conf
chanlist = us-cable
display = fbdev
geometry = 640x480
lsdvd = /usr/bin/lsdvd
mplayer = /usr/bin/mplayer
renice = /usr/bin/renice
setterm = /usr/bin/setterm
tv = pal
version = 2.1
Any advice are welcome :-)

Hi Thomas,
you'll need to send the output from your logs.
Hello John
Here is the output on the command line:
media1:~# freevo
WARNING: duplicate plugin activation, ignoring:
<audio.detach None None>
config.py (518): Logging to /tmp/freevo/main-0.log
Error: VIDEO_SHOW_DATA_DIR not found
ROM_DRIVES: Auto-detected and added "('/cdrom', '/dev/cdrom', 'CD-1')"
config.py (903): Using 'latin-1' encoding
freevo: could not connect to socket
freevo: Connection refused
WARNING: Could not initialize PyLirc!
And here the logfile:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Freevo start at Wed Feb 8 21:54:22 2006
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WARNING: duplicate plugin activation, ignoring:
<audio.detach None None>
config.py (518): Logging to /tmp/freevo/main-0.log
Error: VIDEO_SHOW_DATA_DIR not found
ROM_DRIVES: Auto-detected and added "('/cdrom', '/dev/cdrom', 'CD-1')"
config.py (903): Using 'latin-1' encoding
WARNING: Could not initialize PyLirc!
I see an error about VIDEO_SHOW_DATA_DIR but I cannot find this
variable in the local_conf.py file?
Some more info: After killing freevo, the screen stays black. I have
to reboot to get the prompt back.

Hi Thomas,
you'll need to turn on debugging. Set DEBUG=9 and CHILDAPP_DEBUG=9 in
your local_conf
John
Hello John
At this time I did the log, DEBUG and CHILDAPP_DEBUG were 1. Now, I set
it to 9 but I get exactly the same in the log file. I tried with 0, the
same again. So, I was thinking I modify the wrong config file but the
only local_conf.py I find is in /etc/freevo. I think this is the right
place?
Regards, Thomas
