> > [..] my shitty hardware :(. [..] > > Isn't this your problem? And not the distro? > Well, yes and no. The hardware is fine, more than fine. I've very happy with my hardware. I call it shitty because i have to patch the kernal to use it, and this is because the verdors who produced it have not sponsored actual changes to the kernel to get it working.
Then there is the DVD burning over USB, which i'd say it a kernal problem, whereby so few users experience the problem that the people who own the respective scsi and cdrom stacks blame each other for the repective issue and don't get together to sort out a workable solution. Or it's such a simple fix that all the vednor apply it on all there kernals so it not seen to be a problem. So yes, it's my problem, but the fact that I *have* to recompile my kernal makes my distro choice more important as for example, redhad (last a looked) used acustomer kernal with customer patches and custom headers which meant you could not actually apply pactches to it from the default kernel patchsets. Thanks again for the more tips. I'll see what I can do about getting my patch's stores someplace central ;-). Mike Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
