You may need to manually change the config for .xine

I use an old SB Live 5.1 digital and so I have changed all of the lines
relating to mono, stereo, etc. to ;

	audio.device.alsa_default_device:hw:0,3

I also have the following for 5.1 AC3;
	# device used for 5.1-channel output
	# string, default: iec958:AES0=0x6,AES1=0x82,AES2=0x0,AES3=0x2
	audio.device.alsa_passthrough_device:hw:0,3

and;
	# speaker arrangement
	# { Mono 1.0  Stereo 2.0  Headphones 2.0  Stereo 2.1  Surround
	# 3.0  Surround 4.0 Surround 4.1  Surround 5.0  Surround 5.1
	# Surround 6.0  Surround 6.1  Surround 7.1  Pass Through },
	# default: 1
	audio.output.speaker_arrangement:Pass Through

I'll try the audio.device.alsa_passthrough_device setting.  I have xine working for me with digital spdif out using vdr_xine so I'm confused why it doesn't work for a DVD.  It's using the same xine config file and command lines.

Thanks
Norm
