Hello!
I'm trying to set up Freevo so it runs on the framebuffer. Freevo in
itself works ok, but my major headache right now is that I cannot watch
film with MPlayer: Whenever I play a movie, the screen goes black until
I press escape or stop, then the Freevo screen reappears. After some
frustration I found out that if i press CTRL-ALT-F8, the MPlayer screen
shows up, and it starts playing. It seems like there is a problem with
tty-switching?
I use sdl as Mplayer's video output driver. If i use fbdev, the screen
gets wrapped around horizontally. But I don't have to change tty's to
see it. It would be nice if at least one of them worked ;)
I alson tried to copy and paste the mplayer-command from Freevo's
debug-output, and run it from the command line, which works perfectly.
The hardware in question is a VIA Epia M10000 motherboard with built-in
CLE266 graphics, and a television set. I'm not using any special
VIA-drivers for the graphics, just stock kernel.
The operating system is ArchLinux 0.7.2 running its' supplied kernel
2.6.17. FB_VESA is compiled into the kernel. Freevo, python2.3 and all
python dependencies are installed from source (because there was no
ArchLinux package for python2.3, I didn't want to take any risks).
Everthing else was installed from packages (mplayer, sdl, etc (sdl
version is 1.2.11-1 by the way)).
Here are the mplayer-settings from local_conf.py:
$ grep -v '^#' /etc/freevo/local_conf.py | grep 'MPLAYER'
MPLAYER_ARGS_DEF = (('-autosync 100 -autoq 100'))
MPLAYER_VERSION='1.0'
MPLAYER_AO_DEV = 'alsa' # e.g.: oss,sdl,alsa, see mplayer docs
MPLAYER_VO_DEV = 'sdl'
MPLAYER_NICE = -10
MPLAYER_SOFTWARE_SCALER = ''
MPLAYER_VF_INTERLACED = 'pp'
MPLAYER_VF_PROGRESSIVE = 'pp'
#EOF
My MPlayer version: MPlayer 1.0pre8-4.1.1 (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team
Hope someone has any ideas!
/Tomas
