I think that this is your problem. You will need to be in the directory
when the avi file is before you run this command or use the full path.
mplayer -v /path/to/09-19_19_30_The_Colbert_Report.avi

"vo: x11 uninit called but X11 not inited" is a silly bug in mplayer so
it's not important
