I wanted to put my 0.02 on the autocrop feature. I recently upgraded hardware
and software on my main "livingrooom" freevo. I was having a hard time getting
the recordserver and found some kind souls in previous threads with the
solutions I needed.

The autocrop feature was in that section, but I for some reason thought it was
only part of the recording stuff (or i just didn't pay attention which is more
than likely the case). In any event the recordserver worked like a champ after
that.

The issue I had was some recently acquired Babylon 5 episodes appeared to be
encoded the same way per file 576x320 nice quality DVD rips. I noticed the
video was chopped off at the bottom on most episodes (the credits had first
name, but no last name) and some episodes were so cropped top to bottom that I
could only see a persons nose and ear (hahaha). I just thought the video was
bad till I started working on my new office freevo (which had a sync
issue...even though I dd'd the same drive as the livingroom). I noticed the
video was not bad on that machine.

Then I found it:
MPLAYER_AUTOCROP = 1

I changed it to 0 and all the sudden all was great. Thanks for the info because
there are some interesting flags you have there I will try to tweak things, but
I did want to alert others that autocrop may cause strange behavior.

Of course if I did something else wrong to cause autocrop not to work, I am sure
someone on the list will set me straight.

Long live the freevo!!

Cheers,

Joe
