There is a DVB EPG grabber (tv_grab_dvb http://www.darkskiez.co.uk/index.php?page=tv_grab_dvb), MHEG is not the EPG data but the red button applications, which is something completely different. See redbutton on sourceforge for more information.
I am also working on a complete solution for freevo, it will handle live pause (still a bit buggy but pauses works) and gather the epg all the time no need to schedule anything. Its all based on my project dvbstreamer on sourceforge.
