today the tv was showing some (whatever bland program was on) and it just
stopped. the noise stopped and the man was just there with his mouth open.
ssh in from elsewhere, plenty of cpu and memory to use, killall mplayer and
freevo was back.
so while it is still broken
check xine - operational
check mplayer playing mp3 or ogg - operational
record tv to mpeg file from command line - operational
play same file with mplayer - no go
mplayer test.mpeg - same error as copie din old email
watch tv with mplayer - no go
if i run mplayer -framedrop -nolirc /dev/video0
it hangs and Ctrl-C gives some message about the cache
mplayer -framedrop -nolirc -v -nocache /dev/video0
hangs and Ctrl-C gives MPlayer interrupted by signal 2 in module: demux_open
vo: x11 uninit called but X11 not inited..
I checked the /etc/mplayer.codec.conf
and there are no avisynth.dll entries at all
~/.mplayer/codec.conf doesn't exist.
i'll reboot, and it will work again
Last time I searched the system logs for hints too, but there were no clues.
Any more ideas??
