I've had this problem before, it is rather frustrating isn't it! The real solution is to have a more intelligent xml downloader, that downloads the new XML data to a temporary file, checks this download to be valid / useable, then replaces freevo's TV.xml with the new data.
I had intended to write something that did exactly that, but as with most things I just never find the time! Deleting the TV.xml will work though.
