That part is only for using vlc as the local video player for your 
freevo box, you shouldn't need it at all.

As John says, you need to install VLC on the pc you are using the web browser 
on; in windows, the
default installation options *do not* contain the plugin for firefox which can 
cause frustration. 
You just have to select the option in the install program though.

I've not tried VLC for linux.  I assume its the same deal - make sure you have 
both VLC, and the
plugin for your browser...
