Just a wild guess but is it possible that you have two versions of xine on your system? In freevo.conf the absolute path is used to xine but from the command line it will use the first it finds. Easy enough to find out with: which -a xine Not much has been changed, that could cause this, such as changing the PATH environment. I'm a a bit of a loss to figure out what could cause this.
