V4L is used I believe for both analog and DVB (real not that much difference between them beyond the deliver stream). Part of the reason for so little DVB info is that is not exactly a stable target yet. It does work, but not in a totally predicatble way yet, as I understand it. Next step for you would be to dig in the logs and see what is complaining and may post your localconfig.py so we can know what you actually have setup.
