However, I have now changed it to 1920x1080 and the symptom seems to have gone away. However, when I start a movie (I use xine as my preferred player), and hit q, the whole system freezes. I have not had this issue before. Xine works without issues outside of freevo. I didn't have to make any changes to my xorg with respect to the nvidia driver. I just works with Fedora 10.
