Archives are easier to search without requiring that I have been a subscriber for a long period of time. They are accessible including all history from any net connected location, and they are easily sub-sectioned to provide an easy top level filtering of questions. I also like the ability to in-line screenshots and code snippets in formatted sections.
All of those things are harder with mailing lists. I'm quite happy with mailing lists but I find forums an easier medium for communication and I find they have a more community feel as user avatars give a great sense of who the person is or at least quick visual recognition of an individual. But I know lots of people like mailing lists, I guess it is personal preference. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial.
