I'd take a backup of your local_conf.py as a matter of habit. It's not the prettiest interface in the world but your kids should be able to use it to add headline locations etc. One thing that's missing now that I think about it is a way to stop and start freevo from the web interface so that changes can be applied. I'll add that at some stage if I remember.
