I'm pretty sure the youtube plugin was broken in 1.9.0. Try out a copy of the latest beta http://sourceforge.net/projects/freevo/files/Freevo%20releases/1.9.2b1/freevo-1.9.2b1.tar.bz2/download or try svn. You might need to update kaa too for that.
