Ben, the idea behind the source placing the binary files and config scripts
into the /usr/local dir, is conducive to a source install, nothing becomes
truly "hot" until you say so, so, simply moving the binaries into your path
would work better then adding the location to your path which incidentally
would be done by editing your /etc/profile.
