Apache log and passwords

This probably wants to be in freevsd-devel but ..

Anyway, running 1.4.6 freeVSD
is there a way, other than redirecting all http(s) requests to their 8***
counterparts for the apache logs to show the actual remote host, since at
present requests to :80 appear to arise from the VS itself

Q2 Why don't the VSs use shadow passwords?
Is this just a vsd-vsbatch.pl slip?
