AMD is faster and cheaper. It's also hotter.

I get years of reliability out of old celerons.

We don't need the speed at the cost of reliability and we don't need the
ultimate top-speed processor for hosting.... (i have a dual celeron 466 on
one of the servers and it rocks and runs pretty cool).

This should answer your questions.

I always follow these rules:

1. Never use the latest and fastest processor. Stick with stable tecnology
(specially for motherboards).
2. Double the memory rather than double the procesor speed.
3. Make sure everything is cool (processor and hard disks specially!)
4. Use ball-bearing fans everywhere.

Dave.
