Dear all,

We are looking to create a script that will reboot Apache on a virtual
server so as to activate any changes that the admin user makes to
httpd.conf.

But trying to kill httpd in any form (-9 -HUP, etc.) gives "httpd : no
process killed" even though it does exist (ps -A shows it). I assume
that this has to do with permissions? I know we can use rebootvs but
this takes AGES and is rather unsatisfactory (how come DSVR's rebootvs
takes about 5 seconds whereas ours takes closer to 5 minutes!?!?)

Oh and BTW, is there a BIG security risk with allowing the admin user
write permission to /usr/lib/perl/ and its sub directories so that they
can install Perl modules? Oh and shouldn't /usr/local be owned by
admin?

Thanks in advance,
Have a nice weekend everyone,
