we have found that freeVSD attracts the power users who seem to know there
Linux stuff so if you are just starting you may want to consider that.

on a straight apache web server you can use RLimit in virtual host
directives to limit much of the bad things perl can do especially if you
know your way around suexec to restrct its use and we have always found php
okay (except for 4.0.5 which is just the mad brother of php I think)
