I am using Promise FastTrak 100 with RAID 1. As it is known, the driver,
provided Promise technology, has poor support and it does not support
newest kernels(2.2.19, 2.4.x). However, I found that the another driver
provided with source code is work with kernel 2.2.19, and I have had
cautious tests. Now, it is working without any problem. However, the
setting up the driver is a little tricky, and FastTrak 100 Tx2, the new
model of FastTrak series, does not work with the driver. In addition,
smp kernel is not supported. Therefore, I do not recommend to use it.
In addition, FastTrak and some RAID controllers are not hardware RAID.
Actually, they are software RAID, and they need drivers. So, if you
do not want to have a problem related the drivers, and you can afford a
little more money, use hardware RAID. You will not be worried about
driver releated problems anymore, and they will work kernel 2.2.x and
2.4.x because it does not care OS.

I am thinking about:

Has somebody tried it?
