Unless you are utilising the new support for 'VSD/virtual domains' and
'VSD/virtual users' you don't necessarily need to use vm-pop3d and could
instead use qpopper. However, your error indicates it is vm-pop3d which is
handling your POP3 and it is having problems accessing the admin mail file
(/var/spool/mail/admin) ensure the permissions allow group read+write and
that the files ownership is group mail. As vm-pop3d runs as mail.mail (I
think) that should solve your problem.
