Thanks Tim,
Unfortunately, sod's law states that as soon as I start doing some
FreeVSD-related work, something else turns up that needs finishing ASAP
so im afraid i'll be putting freevsd on the back burner again until I
get some time to have an explore with the exciting sounding v1.4.10.
Cheers,
Ben Kennish

Subject: RE: I dont want SSL vsd!
When compiling freevsd it will, by default, look for and link to openssl
libraries so it can produce secure and insecure versions of vsd and
vsdadm.
If you do not have openssl libraries and have no need of ANY ssl support
you
can configure and compile with a --without-openssl option.
When installing freevsd you can have it configure everything for you by
simply typing vsd-install. When configuring freevsd it will, by default
only
enable connections on port 1726 - secure connections. Again, if you
didn't
compile against openssl libraries or have no need of ssl security type
'vsd-install -p' instead (for plain-text protocol) and it will only
enable
connections on port 1725 - insecure connections.
Because the freevsd RPMS are produced by default compilation options all
future freeVSD RPMs will have a dependency on OpenSSL being installed
(which
can, if necessary, be safely bypassed with a -nodep switch). But, once
installed you will have the choice of whether you actually utilise the
SSL
support provided.
So, a built-in dependancy, and a choice...
