I'm using freeVSD 1.4.10 from CD-ROM. The problems that I had getting imap going within a virtual server seemed to be Kerberos related. It seemed that kerberos 1.1.1-9 was installed onto the hosting server and into the skel with the CD-ROM distro. I had to install 1.1.1-28 onto both the hosting server and into the skel (and / or vs) to get imap-2000-2.6 going here in my environment. And also of course add a line to inetd.conf for the imap server through virtuald.
btw: many thanks to Clint Nelissen for helping me get it going..
