I do not mean to post more problems, but it may help for the last, this is how my install went.

[root@DBH-Home1 /root]# rpm -ivh freevsd-1.4.9-2rh7.i386.rpm
Preparing...                ########################################### [100%]
   1:freevsd                ########################################### [100%]
[root@DBH-Home1 /root]# vsd-install.pl

Enter mount point for FreeVSD skel and virtual servers [/home/vsd] : /home/vsd

Enter IP address of primary name server [209.51.128.17] : 209.51.131.146

Enter IP address of secondary name server [209.51.128.18] : 209.51.131.147

Customising configuration file...
 Configured the following lines in /etc/vsd/vsd.conf:
  PrimaryNS 209.51.131.146
  SecondaryNS 209.51.131.147
  Mount /home/vsd

Unsuccessful stat on filename containing newline at /usr/sbin/vsd-install.pl line 126.

Setting up VirtualServer DBH-Home1, for loopback,
 in vsd.conf and linking it to / ...
ln: `/home/vsd//': cannot overwrite directory
sh: /vs/DBH-Home1: No such file or directory

Appended the following services to /etc/xinetd.conf, if not found:
  service ftp: /usr/sbin/proftpd -d -l
  service telnet: /usr/sbin/in.telnetd
  service pop-3: /usr/sbin/in.qpopper
  service smtp: /usr/sbin/sendmail -bs

  service vsd: /usr/sbin/vsd

Registering the vsd service...
Appended the following lines to /etc/services:
  vsd  1725/tcp  # Virtual Server Daemon (VSD)
  svsd 1726/tcp  # Secure Virtual Server Daemon (VSD over SSL)

Disabled httpd at startup
Killed all httpd processes

Forcing xinetd to read configuration changes...

Detected the existence of iptables.
Would you like to disable ipchains in favour of iptables? [Y]: y

Disbled ipchains at startup
Stopped ipchains from running
PLEASE NOTE: any previous ipchains rules will need to
             be converted to iptables

Enabled iptables at startup
Started iptables.

also, when I try to make a virtual server, I got this :-(

[root@DBH-Home1 skel]# vsdadm vs_create DBH-Home1 mw 209.51.131.147 mwgnet.com 50 15000 20 defualt
(I waited along time here....)

Read timeout
