Hi All! I think I'm ready to take the "next" step, and basically generate a skel based upon the services I wish to install on the server myself, instead of using a pre-built one. I will be installing on a Trustix 1.5 box (based on RH6.2), and *everything* will be installed via RPM. Here is what I will be using, and just wanted to know if there was anything "special" I needed to do (tweaks, config options in the SPEC file, etc.):
Web --- - Apache 1.3.23 - mod_php4 4.1.2 - mod_perl 1.26 - mod_ssl (using OpenSSL 0.9.6c) - Webalizer 2.0.1 Mail ---- - courier-IMAP - (MAYBE Squirrelmail) - sendmail + vpopmail OR qmail + vmailmgr (qmail + vmailmgr is preferred; if Qmail is used, the other utilities like uscp-tcp, checkpassword, etc. will also be installed) Database -------- - MySQL - PostgreSQL - (POSSIBLY OpenLDAP) - related Perl modules (DBI, DBD-mysql, DBD-pgsql, etc.) Miscellanous ------------ - OpenSSH - ProFTPd - possibly a couple other relatively minor things I am forgetting Some questions regarding this: 1) For the most part, will I just simply be able to install the RPMs, and generate the Skel? Any issues I sould watch out for with any of the above? 2) I know some people have been able to get Qmail to work when installed individually on a VS, but has anyone been able to put it into a Skel, and used on a general basis, like Sendmail? 3) If I need to do some "tweaking", is it with regards to the ./configure options (which I can change in the SPEC files), or would it be from within the source code itself? Uhm, those are the only questions I can think of at the moment, tho there may be more. I appreciate your input.
