Hi all, Just a few days ago someone mentioned to me a possible problem with freevsd. FreeVSD uses a chroot environment to create virtual servers. This means all processes run on the same kernel. This reduces the overhead (there is none) but it does make it very hard to monitor cpu/memory usage on a per virtual server basis. My guess was to monitor the userid's on the host system and their running processes and resource usage. With some help from the vsd.conf file you could make a list of any abnormal system load. I've looked into some monitoring tools (mon, esm, atsar, atop), but neither of them are capable of monitoring individual userid's. Global system monitoring is the common way of getting some usage statistics, but that just won't work in my opinion.
My question is if anyone has had any experience in monitoring system usage in a way the virtual servers can be individually monitored and if there are any out-of-the-box solutions out there.
