Well what a fool I am - just in case anyone is interested, there is
no such VS on the host server called "vsclient" and it seems that if
you refer to an object (VS, user etc) that doesn't exist, the VSD
protocol responds with the (rather unhelpful) -ERR Access denied. One
for the FAQ I feel...
So if anyone is getting an 'Access denied' message, make sure you are
trying to manipulate or view objects that actually exist!
