The skel files are hard linked to the files in all the virtual servers, with 
some exceptions like etc.  This is how when you create a new VS the partition 
does not get bigger based on the size of the skel but just a little bit of 
space is lossed.  So when you changed thoose files it the skell, it in fact 
changed all the files that the VSs are using.

So really it was not strange at all.
