Either /etc or /usr/mpkg/etc, that's configurable, but /etc is the default even for add-on packages. >So, why it is not possible to modify the ipkg process to >install the files into /tmp/.fwcf/root instead of /etc and merging >afterwards? Because it could be squashfs. And I do *not* want to have everything distinguish between the filesystem types used, _because_ squashfs "should be the default" for rolled-out configurations (as far as I understood wbx), and developers use jffs2, especially for testing. Let me clarify the use of the 'fwcf erase' function: It has been written for exactly one case: You want to flash a new firmware with mtd on the fly, and the fwcf format has changed (different specifica- tion major, different compressor). Then you 'fwcf erase' with the new binary on the old system first, because otherwise, after reflashing and rebooting, 'fwcf setup' won't run. (You _could_ do mtd erase, but that wouldn't save the entropy pool, and needs an additional parameter to work.) Well, that's a mixture between my point of view and what I understood from wbx. Ultimately, it was his design idea, whose implementation details I merely optimised, and so he should join the discussion be- fore the other developers here start _demanding_ things. bye, //mirabile -- I believe no one can invent an algorithm. One just happens to hit upon it when God enlightens him. Or only God invents algorithms, we merely copy them. If you don't believe in God, just consider God as Nature if you won't deny existence. -- Coywolf Qi Hunt _______________________________________________ freewrt-developers mailing list [email protected] https://www.freewrt.org/lists/listinfo/freewrt-developers
