I would like to remove this _entire_ logic. It doesn't really
work in trunk anyway, and then, less commands would be @'ed
and debugging would improve.
For quieter output, we could invent some prefix, like ===>,
which you could make use of with tail -f make.log | grep '^===>'
then.
