It is not specific for rebuilding. It is a possibility to create a ready to go firmware image in a specific network environment. So doing some tests it is helpful to always generate an image with wlan active without encryption to have a backup access to the system. It is a useful feature for first time configuration. And on an update you can always decide to use either -e fwcf or not. > What happens > if you change the config locally a make a upgrade (with the same method, > creating a unique image)? fwcf will override your config. > > If you have some time, I urgently need some help with the new wlan > configuration script (multiple SSIDs). Do you want to help me? What about the ifupdown patches lying around? No interest in these patches? Can you explain what your plans are, before you start hacking on it? We should work together on new network scripts. You know the limitation of the existing system. For example WPA2 with bridging was not working, because there is no dependency logic in the existing scripts. Christian Fischer has prepared a more comfortable script environment, which at least someone should evaluate, before we reinvent the wheel. After reading this: http://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?pid=43043 I am even not sure, if the VAP support in Broadcom is really worth the efforts. Did you read the wlc.c source code? That is the part Felix implemented to patch the wl.o binary driver on the fly. Does even anybody has a working VAP setup with OpenWrt seen or documented? bye Waldemar -- don't open your wrt, free it http://www.freewrt.org _______________________________________________ freewrt-developers mailing list [email protected] https://www.freewrt.org/lists/listinfo/freewrt-developers
