Stirling engines - heat one end, cool the other, and get mechanical work
out (spinning rotor). 

Or (and they don't make much of this on the site...) reverse the
equation, spin the rotor with a motor, and one end gets hot, the other
gets cold. Wind powered central heating anyone? (Runs your fridge at the
same time...)
