(Apols to non-Palm owners for the sudden flood :-) )
Yeah, Proxiweb is good, I think TopGun Wingman does the same thing (and was
first) but you have to (can) set up your own proxy
Avantgo is good, but is a bit big for what it does. The little bar thingy that
shows the battery life is probably way more useful (in terms of size against
value), except I use Launcher III, which has a different bar thingy...
Definitely try Frotz (or another Z-code [adventure game language] interpreter)
and get the Scott Adams games from
http://www.fortunecity.com/underworld/rpg/22/ if you haven't already. Non-palm
owners can probably find an interpreter for their platform and the same games
elsewhere. In fact I might try that since the palm interpreter doesn't grok
graphics.
And if anyone knows any Forth, or wants to accompany on my journey learning it,
drop me a line. Do you think it's a bit crazy to learn Forth? To me it sort of
jumps out as a great language for a platform like Palm, although it is very
strange to read / code. Its suitability is evidenced by the fact that (AFAIK)
it is the first language to be available on the Palm that you can develop code
with and not need to use your main workstation. Of course, there's PocketC, but
I think (pls correct me if I'm wrong) that it is a kind of interpreted C, and
won't compile executables.
