You might've noticed, I've been keeping a page of '10 cool things' at marsbard.com, and a running archive of all previous cool things too.

It's been limited because

a) I don't always have time to find cool sites
b) I keep reinstalling browsers and switching OSes and forgetting / not bothering to embed the script into the links toolbars of my browsers (fixed now with a link that's draggable to the toolbar)
c) it's just me, and I can't find all the cool links in the world

So why don't you lot help me make it a little less limited. Open your bookmarks / favorites [sic] in edit mode and paste the script in the cut section below into a link in a browser toolbar. Alternatively hit http://marsbard.com/cool/coolToolz.php3, spot the link that says 'c00lt00lz' (with 'frendz' in bold nearby, inside a coupla HRs at the top of the page), and drag it to your links toolbar.

Whenever you hit a page on the internet that strikes you as particularly novel or otherwise interesting, hit the c00lt00lz link in your toolbar and you will be taken to the cool toolz page (the one you dragged the link off, stoopid ;-} )

The cool toolz you can have access to now are:
1) mark a page as cool on marsbard.com - you can give it a description
2) use spyonit.com to check when it changes
3) send the page by email (IIRC lynx converts it to ASCII for you)

Pages you mark as 'cool' will appear on the front page of marsbard.com. Later on I'll make it show who posted each link based on a browser cookie, but for now I'll just change the caption to say 'The last 10 cool things martian's frendz saw'.

Developers aside note: It's a fairly pathetic process - the latest link is written on top of http://marsbard.com/cool/coolSites.html, and also to http://marsbard.com/cool/10coolThings.html with a header added; the 10coolThings page is included into the front page with a php 'include' statement [err... or whatever it is, I haven't coded PHP for ages and I intend to stick with perl (and mebbe move to python) now)

javascript:location.href='http://marsbard.com/cool/coolToolz.php3?location=' + escape(location.href) + '&title=' + escape(document.title)

Lemme know if any of you have any ideas for cool services based on this idea. I'll implement whatever's asked for. Stuff like at deepleap.com if you like. (but here you know I'm not going to sell the database of users :-} )

One idea I had was 'mail all the images on this page, and linked off this page, to someone'. Mainly good for harvesting pr0n sites ;-} but also good for webmasters in their Daily Work.
