Apropos the wisdom of crowds and web 2.0, Jaron Lanier wrote a combative essay for the Edge about the new "Digital Maoism". Part of it seems to be a standard libertarian rant on the importance of individualism and may be a bit attacking the forest without acknowledging it is actually made up of trees but is interesting none- the-less. As are the many rebuttals.
