The current issue of the American magazine, The New Yorker, has an interesting article on Sim City developer Will Wright at http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/articles/061106fa_fact
It touches on the popular history of gaming and Wright's current work with Spore.

And in the same issue (no wonder I don't get any REAL work done) is a review of the epidemiology of cholera (" Sick City  Maps and mortality in the time of cholera" by Steven Shapin)  Another good read about London doctor John Snow's work at http://www.newyorker.com/critics/books/articles/061106crbo_books
