I've recently been called by Sun Micro to give a recommendation for
one of the "skunks" working in our skunkworks. I had to explore some
of our past work, when I happened upon this very old, and badly
written (games need a good MVC framework) Java game:

(BTW: You can read about our last skunkworks project here: http://
backspaces.net/sun/cartalk/cover.html)

Comes from the Dr Who series, and is a copy of the first Mac version
in the mid '80s. What's amazing to me is that it still works! It
was probably written with Java 1.0 or 1.1 at latest, and still runs
fine on today's JVM. I'm certainly impressed that a language can be
that backwards compatible.
