The problem with a low memory machine that dual boots, is that there's
this thing that you never use taking up precious space. For the XO
folks right now, its about the bucks and hanging onto their core of
open-source developers. (I bet they can get another $6M out of MS
before they run into "philosophical differences", but that trick will
stop working after awhile). I still think they would do well to restart
the G1G1 program or otherwise find some way for somewhat more
inner-adult fingers to get at one in the US. (In the last week I
could have sold about 20 of them in Santa Fe coffee shops were they
available and were I of the mind. No one seemed to mind the keyboard
size.) Remember the Honda Element; the demographic that buys it is not
necessarily the demographic Marketing thought it was designed for.

That said, I just purchased a 16GB SD card (cheap!) for it and am
thinking about bluetooth dongles and drivers and maybe an Opera browser
suite if that will do the MathML. (When we get a little more
experience with it I might consider it as a Resartus platform). Josh T.
and I played with the mesh networking and sharing activities at
post-lunch coffee today - interface is still a little rough, but we got
the net and shared activities to work and there is a sense that the GUI
issues will improve a lot in the coming weeks. (the Tmobile G1G1 freebee
year account worked just fine at Borders) It's always reassuring to
watch Linux boot and have access to a real shell. The trick is to not
think of it as a device like any other. 'Any color so long as it's green'.

Time for a club?
