This local LANL Risk Symposium Call for Papers has been extended until March 6.

Dear Colleague,

You are invited to submit a proposal to present at our upcoming annual
conference on the theory and application of risk analysis to homeland
security and defense. The Fourth Annual Risk Symposium will be held at
the Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder Resort, New Mexico, on April 7-9,
2009. The theme for this year’s conference is “Risk Analysis of Complex
Systems for National Security Applications.”

We are accepting proposals for both oral and poster presentations in the
following areas:

* Homeland defense from biological/chemical/nuclear risks
* Decision support systems and uncertainty analysis for risk
minimization
* Modeling and analysis of national critical infrastructures
* Threat interdiction and emergency response strategies
* Energy security and financial system modeling
* Food safety and defense
* Socio-technical aspects of risk analysis for national security
* Policy implications

This conference is sponsored by the Decision Applications Division and
the Center for Nonlinear Studies of the Los Alamos National Laboratory,
and attracts a broad range of theoreticians, computer modelers,
analysts, domain experts, and decision makers from academia, industry,
government, and the national laboratories. The event has earned a
reputation for high-quality presentations at a unique forum focused on
the nation’s highest priority national security threats.

EXTENDED Abstract Submittal Deadline: Friday, March 6, 2009

Registration Deadlines:

Early Registration: February 15, 2009

Regular Registration: March 14, 2009

There is a reduced registration fee schedule for students and
post-doctoral researchers in order to promote participation. In
addition, there are a limited number of travel grants available.
