I Now Pronounce You Human and Machine
Three Reflections on Humanity, Our Technology, and the Stories We Tell
Wednesday, June 10 · 6:00-8:30pm
Scientists Steve Smith and Stephen Guerin, sci-fi novelist Steve Gould
and renowned game designer Chris Crawford ponder what does the future
hold for humans and the technologies we depend on? While they may not
follow David Levy's predictions of human and robot dalliances, they
will consider how tools have moved beyond passive participants in
human culture to the active role played by today's computers and, yes,
tomorrow's robots. Along the way, they'll consider the human penchant
for story telling and what answers our stories may hold for this

New media artist and VJ, Peter Rand, will be showing recent sound
films and performing live with special guest Paul Rudy on June 26th at
the complex. Screenings will include Dennis H. Miller's fascinating
abstract animations with his musical compositions, and New York
artist, Donald O'Finn's "feverishly edited encyclopedically strange

UUUUT in Juuune
Greetings Sound Addicts. Mark your calendars: The UUUUT Experiment
(65dB) returns to making music through unstructured improvisation, the
use of found objects, extended techniques, laptops, robotics and a
projected decibel meter. All musicians, artists and sound addicts in
general are welcome to participate or simply come and experience the
event. The performance is free and open to the public. For more info,

It's a huge fundraising party for Santa Fe Complex on Saturday
evening, June 13th. FrankenCircuit, an enormous electric installation
organized by Phil Mantione and featuring the work of Martin Back,
James Brody, Tristan Chambers, Victoria Hughes, David McPherson, Simon
Mehalek, Zevin Polzin, Frank Rolla, Steve Smith, and Alysse Stepanian,
brings music and spoken word performances by Vince Kablubek, Flamingo
Pink!, and Ismael Retzinsk.
The live performances begin at 7:00pm. FrankenCircuit detonates at the
stroke of 9:00pm when Stephen Guerin, founder of Santa Fe Complex,
pulls a big red lever and the visual projects start up simultaneously.
Cool stuff! Lights, sounds, action!

Santa Fe Complex is located in the Railyard Art District within
walking distance of the hotels, restaurants and shops at the plaza
downtown. We're housed in two facilities, the project space at 624
Agua Fria and the common space at 632 Agua Fria.
While there is parking at 624 Agua Fria, the Romero Street parking lot
is more conveniently located for the 632 facility. Romero St. is an
old-style Santa Fe ox-cart road just east of the 624 driveway. Follow
it south from Agua Fria St. until it opens up to two lanes; turn hard
right into the parking lot for 632. Or, enter from Manhattan St. &
Romero St. to the south.

Take the Railrunner to the Complex
Leave downtown Abq at 4:15 on the #514 and you'll be at the Santa Fe
Depot by 5:46. Walk west, past the REI building, to the Complex for
our evening events. (The Railrunner stops at three other spots in the
Abq area en route to Santa Fe. For details, click here.)
Return on the #519 at 8:15, arriving in downtown ABQ at 9:42, or the
#521 heads south at 9:30 to arrive at 10:57.
