Obviously, a person doesn't have to be just one -- you don't have to invoke Gore to show that. If Krugman makes anyone uncomfortable, Einstein or Feynman would work just as well. One can interpret a discussion based on the content of it, or based on guesswork from perceptions of personality or reputation. At some point, I'd say the latter is going to annoy someone. And here you are saying the reader is obligated to do this. I think that's nuts.
