The mobile industry announced a fast-track adoption of a single standard for
high-speed 4G today. I’m in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress and
blogging the event at http://mobile.rjiblog.org . Verizon said it will have
its LTE-based 100mps system up in 30 cities by the end of the year. That
means dongle-equipped laptops can work almost everywhere and phones can
stream HD video with ease.

Is that good for us or another challenge?

Also check the blog for an announcement of the Wholesale Applications
Community, which sets a single protocol for writing phone apps. It should
make it easier to write apps that run on all platforms, but it remains to be
seen how it will play in the iTunes Store.
