On behalf of Orlando Leibovitz,
We are planning an event titled Notions Of Time. A brief description
is below. The proposed date(s) for the event are Friday December 3rd
and Saturday December 4th, but the dates may be changed to sometime
in early 2011.
Part of the event involves speakers presenting ten minute talks on
various concepts of time. We have two speakers who wish to discuss
time in physics. Stephen Guerin will be speaking about time in
Complexity science. We are still seeking speakers for the following
topics:
Time in Philosophy
Geologic Time
Biological time
Time concepts in fiction and poetry
Clocks, calendars and pendulums
Psychological perceptions of time
Time, infinity and mathematics
Time in Buddhism
Jung, time and synchronicity
Time, stress and western culture
Time in non western culture
Time in Native American culture
Time capsules
Language and perception of time
If you know of a potential speaker, please contact me. Ideas for
other topics relative to time are most welcome, especially if you
are suggesting a speaker for the topic. The presentations will be
aimed at a general audience.
We want more art/videos related to time concepts. Recommendations
are welcome. Please send links or have the artist contact me.
We would like to project poems and sayings about time on the walls
and floors of The Complex. Please send me any suggestions.
Although we have two speakers for topics in physics, more would be
OK. Then we might devote one hour just to physics and the nature of
time.
Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.
Yes.
