   Hi All,

Just in case there weren't enough data challenges open right now, I
wanted to let you all know about another one, the CDC Flu App
   Challenge (http://fluapp.challenge.gov).

The CDC has released some flu data that they'd like to see you combine
with any other public datasets you can find to develop an app aimed at
educating the public about flu trends and encouraging healthy behavior
   (flu shots!).

The CDC is offering $35,000 in prizes. Here's the breakdown:
   First Place - $15,000
   Second Place - $10,000
   Third Place - $5,000
   People's Choice - $2,500
   Honorable mention - $2,500
Judges will have the discretion of awarding up to five "honorable
   mention" prizes at $500 each.

I've copied some of the information below, but if you'd like to skip
all of that, you can head straight to the challenge itself:
   http://fluapp.challenge.gov

If you have any questions, please let me know-- I'll do my best to
answer them. (my employer, Forum One Communications, is helping the
   CDC to run this challenge).

   Cheers,
   Kathleen Danielson

Check out the CDC Flu App Challenge.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is looking for an
innovative and creative use of technology to raise awareness of
influenza and/or educate consumers on ways to prevent and treat the
   flu, be it for:

   the web
   a personal computer,
   a mobile handheld device,
or any platform broadly accessible to the open Internet.

   What's in it for you?

Challenging competition. Potential cash prize. And satisfaction in
   contributing to a healthier public!

The tools and technology products that best satisfy the competition

are encouraged to mashup CDC data with any other publicly-accessible
data feeds from around the web, and to be creative in exploring
   approaches for realizing the goals.

You pick the technology and design the idea, we’ll provide the data

CDC compiles a wealth of data that often go unnoticed by the technical
community. The mission of the CDC Flu App Challenge is to introduce
the software development community to those resources and generate
useful and innovative applications with those data. We require that
you use at least one of the following data sets in your technical
   solution:

   Influenza Vaccination Estimates
