I'm very sorry to hear of this news. As much as I found his style somewhat abrasive, he did send me some private communications that were very encouraging, and I certainly recognized his brilliant mind.

It is with the deepest regret that I must tell you that our friend, colleague and inspiration Peter Lissaman passed away in Santa Fe early Sunday morning. His piquant humor, brilliant insight, instrumental contributions and colorful history in science and engineering in the latter part of the twentieth century touched many of us. I'm sure he will be deeply missed in our ranks.
