Doug,
My experience with Google is that because so much of their stuff is given away, their Do No Evil has metamorphosed into "How could we possibly do evil? we're such nice people!" I don't get the feeling they are embarrassed when one of their apps turns out to be crap. But I am not a Beta person. Free or not, I want my software stable and not subject to the next bright idea from the next summer intern. But as somebody will quickly point out: I really don't know what I am talking about here.
